On Friday you posted an idea for an activity to promote Rachel's challenge.

Today, you should use GOOGLE to find a real activity.

Explain the activity in a paragraph (4-6 sentences) and then explain how the activity would be beneficial to Piper High (4-6 sentences).

By saying Hi to other students, teachers and staff within the school, students will get to know each other, connect with their school and as a result create a safer school community.

*

Get to know each other
*

Understand each other
*

Be inclusive of each other
*

Connect with each other

like the "say hi day" forum goes we should promote the say hi day theme and tell everybody hi. i think it would create a chain reaction.we should make banners and posters. and we can make T-shirts that say Hi on them.

we should use this program known as STOP. It consists of six three-hour meetings that rotate between the different problems. At each of the first three sessions, youth from the host congregation introduce the visiting students to the essential elements of their faith. This is done to help the youth understand each other and to begin breaking down stereotypes about one another's religious beliefs. Activities are planned to help the youth express their own uniqueness, articulate their own cultural traditions and to relate their own experiences of racism. The first session focuses on discussion related to the effects of racism. During the next three sessions, the participating youth work on activities that help them understand, identify and confront stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination. The latter sessions involve role-playing and developing strategy. The students learn to confront prejudice and to speak up for themselves and for others. Youth who have completed the program are invited to work as facilitators.

When you believe in your dreams it makes you more confident in yourself and not always looking at what you dont have .

My invitation to you is to realign with the forgotten magic of your childhood and rediscover all your wishes, hopes and dreams. If you were taught, encouraged and inspired to dream as a child, be sure you are actively living these beliefs today. If you weren't, then choose today to start believing in the magical power of wishing, hoping and dreaming!

-I said for the activity
A challenge for kind words are for students to go to their classes and or to different people compliment them in a nice way.

And that link says that for a straight month she complimented people and say she didnt like the new shirt they bought she wouldnt lie and say she likes it she'd just find something else to compliment. And also, saying that a person worked hard on a project and telling them they did a good job.

This is a great way to influnce equality. It makes me want to make a shirt to contribute to the growing of the company.the shirt resembles the one race human.

This activity would be beneficial to piper because their probally are racist students here.this program could have all students make new friends.black or white or whatever they are.I think it will help students understand that people are different but shouldnt hate each other because their white or black etc.

DARE TO DREAM :)

There is one project for
DARE TO DREAM that I really like. What you do, is everyone writes down one of there dreams on a piece of paper. Then as more and more are being made, you link them all together into a long chain. The chain represents the unity of everyones dreams. Once everyone who wishes to participate sends in their papers, you link them all together. Then you hang them up all around the school.

I think this would be beneficial here at Piper High, because in my opinion, the kids here don't look too motivated. But If they see their dreams hanging up around the halls everyday, that might encourage them to pursure their goals. Also, a lot of kids these days base their actions on what everyone else is doing. So, if one person participates in this project, then that may cause everyone else to get involved, forming a CHAIN REACTION.

For Dare to dream every student should write down everything they want to accomplish before they die and keep it with them as a motivation to keep moving forward.

In the article ir says that Rachel wrote all her goals in a journal, and when they read her journal they said that Rachel wasnt afraid to dream to make a difference in this world. In Rachel's essay's she shows how important compassion was to her,and how she dreamed that she would make a difference.

my idea was to have diffrent people hang out with diffrent groups. dont just sit with your bestfriend, go and hang out with some kids that you dont normally talk to and get to no eachother. you might have a judgement on how they look but will notice they are just like you once you get to know them. you can play the game two truths and a lie. you right down two true things about yourself and one lie. and everyone does the same. then you have to guess which one is a lie about the person..this will start conversations that will lead up to you knowing more about the person.

Hold a "Rock Against Racism" or a concert, dance-a-thon, bike-a-thon, car wash or battle-of-the-bands and donate the proceeds from ticket sales to underwrite diversity training and other programs for the school

We should have a big concert at the school with local bands to promote the stoppoing of prejudice. poeple will come to enjoy the music as well as learning to be a better person. Bands can make shirts and sell them poeple who look up to them will actualy listen and the concert can raise money for more activities.

Define some kind words and share with someone else a time when they used kind words and how they felt. Make a list of kind words. Use the list to make compliment cards and share them with another person. talk and write about your feelings.

This activity can be beneficial to Piper High because and can make the students to be more kind to one another. i can make students more thankful for being themselves. Using kind words makes people more happy and makes them feel successul in the world.

This activity is benefical to Piper because Piper could be cleaner. Plus Piper wouldnt have a bad rep. Maybe more kids would come to Piper.

It would help piper because people every day are being bullied and need some type of friend and help wit selasteam. And it just feels good that a random person would walk up to you and say something nice and compasonet.

D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), the highly acclaimed program that gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs, and violence. It would benifit piper high school because it will teach students that drugs, gangs and violence isnt neccessary in your life and your life would be 100% better if you didnt have it in your life.

This activity would be good to piper high school because it would help people to socializemore and learn more about their school mates. This would help people to make more and new friends.

This activity is an assembly program on bullying called "Buddies Not Bullies". This program presents a positive message for students and how important it is to treat everyone equally. Not only does this assembly provide factual information, but they also relate it to things children would be interested in and to keep them entertained about the subject. This makes the students want to learn about the bullying topic.

This program would benefit Piper High school because less kids would be getting picked on. This would also bring less pressure on students and keep them more focused on their school work rather than coming to school and worrying about whether they will get picked on for something that may be different from others. This program relates to my goal because they both are going to decrease the bully population and make everyone treat each other equally and not judging them beforehand.

THE IDEA I CAME UP WITH WAS AN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM THAT WOULD MENTOR KIDS AND HELP SHAPE THEM INTO PROACTIVE KING, RESPECTABLE, HONORABLE YOUNG PEOPLE, LIKE HOW RACHELE WAS. THE KIDS WOULD ALWAYS HAVE THEIR MENTORS TO TALK TO AND THE OTHER KIDS IN THE PROGRAM SO THAT THEY WONT EVER FEEL LIKE THEY ARE ALONE THUS THEY WONT DO ANYTHING THAT THEY MAY REGRET

D.A.R.E. stands for drug abuse resistance education. this program gives students skills they need to avoid drugs, violence, and gangs. it was found in 1983 and has been a major success since then. it is being talked about in more than 75%of our nations school districtsand is involved in 43 countries world wide. D.A.R.E. teaches kids from kindergarten up till 12th grade how to avoid drugs and to resist peer pressure. the D.A.R.E program relates to rachels challenge because she wanted people to choose positive influences and the D.A.R.E. program is a good way to be around the right people and do the right things.

-This activity really explains about Rachel's uncle and one out of 13 survivors of the shootin talkin to students, teachers and ministers.

- Alot of kids, students really took this seriously and thankful to talk to these people.

- This feels like it should and has effected anyone. Most shootins have stopped because of this activity, "rachels challenge". All the school's, even students learn what to understand and take in better. Ministers and the County board have changed rules all over the worldd. So this doesnt happen again. Thats how this affects our shool and any other over the world.

Its called Project SELF.
The idea of it is to boost your self esteem so that you dont feel depressed. The majority of bullies are victoms of depression and if we were all happy we wouldnt want to pick on anyone. The project suggests you record or write down some nice words about your self and revise them when your feeling blue. Some self positive words will really help with your self esteem.

Ok, so in a brief discription the students discuss conflict resolution techniques and color posters about those techniques. So, they talk about how they feel about everything that has to do bullying. Which is good, because they are talking about instead of doing it. Which prevents from a lot of bad things from happening. They also learn the resolutions for conflicts.

When you talk things out, even though it may be hard, it's better than doing it. This would be very good for Piper because people here don't hold back, and just do it like this an ad for Nike. Things would be a lot more peaceful if we could settle down and just talk. Express how each one of us feels about everything, through posters and banners. And help many future events as well.

CHOOSING PSOITIVE INFLUENCES
CAN HELP YOU WHEN YOUR choosing a better future.

This activity is designed to illustrate how students’ choices today can
impact future air quality. It lets them trace how the choices of earlier
generations have increased air pollution over the last 40 years. It is
related to the “Making Decisions” warm-up. Related activities include
“Lifestyles and the Environment” and “Deciding To Clean the Air.”

We all have relationships and spheres of influence. Talk to people about Rachel's Challenge. Work to get our program in your school. People are watching you - let this message shine through you. Tell people about Rachel's story and her values. Promote the RC programs to your school board, your community, your local businesses.

Let the people you know have the opportunity to learn about the powerful impact RC has on both the CLIMATE and the CULTURE of schools.

Rachels Challenge Idea;

I feel that Rachels challenge was a good opportunity to be nice to people and realize things you say to them. Sometimes you never realize what might be the last words you say to people and it can make a big impact. I think a good idea for Rachels challenge should be for each class to have a paper with everyones name on it and you pass it around and write nice things about each person on it. i think that would be a good idea or make a big impact on people to feel good about theirselves.

Having kids sighn up for school related activitys they would like. while they're there, their meeting kids who like the same thing!!! Its a fun thing to do with out the weird silence.

It could be good for kids in piper and kids in any schools because kids every where need help...if they had more friends it would be more likely thatthey wouldn't be alone and out cast them selfs and feel alone in the world. When kids feel like that the tend to push away form every thing around them and when other kids see that they tend to make fun or bully them.
