* Slaves were allowed to spy successfully because nobody cared what they said.

* Some slaves spied for the North because they wanted to be free and get back at the white people. Some risk they faced was being hanged or killed. The challenges that they faced was getting out of the South successfully.

* A factor that allowed slaves to be successful as spies was how “masters” held conversations with military and Confederate civilian officials in the slaves’ presence.

* African-Americans probably spied for the North during the Civil War in hopes that they could help end slavery. African-Americans faced the danger of being hung.

The first funds will be used for medical issues. The money is to be used for its intended purposes only. These funds will benefit children with asthma, seniors and pregnant woman with limited needs.

Some governors are planning to refuse the stimulus money because they don’t agree with some parts of the stimulus package and will not be accepting those funds. If those governors will not accept the money, than I’ll give it someone who will. There are still thousands of organizations out there that need financial help and if there is enough money, they deserve the right to use it.

Mardi Gras, also known as carnival is an annual event celebrated on the day before Lent. Its official colors are, purple, green and gold.

Approximately, 1.4 million turned out for Mardi Gras before Katrina hit. Many say that Mardi Gras will top the amount of people ever present there before, despite the struggling economy.

6. Do you or your family take part in any traditional celebrations like Mardi Gras? If so, do you think that economic concerns might impact your participation in the event? Why or why not?
My family does take part in celebrations like Mardi Gras. We attend Carnival (Unite-a-Fest) and they are planning on attending Caribana in Canada some time soon. Since (Unite-a-Fest) is always free, I don’t think it will be a problem. But for other celebrations that require purchasing tickets, I don’t think we will attend because of the economy.

7. Who were some of the African-Americans who spied for the North during the Civil War, as discussed in the segment?
One African-American was Harriet Tubman, who served as a spy, scout and nurse for military purposes. Others were, William Jackson, Robert Small and etc.

Slaves did not know how to read, but relied on the African Story Telling Tradition, which helped them remember critical information.

African-Americans most likely spied for the North because, they wanted freedom. They had hopes of ending slavery. If they were caught, they were most likely hung.

Some famous African Americans were, Rosa Parks, who refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white man. There was Martin Luther King Jr., who had a dream that we should all be able to get along as one, despite are skin color. And there was George Washington Carver, who invented peanut butter!

*The first of the stimulus packafe will be distributed right to the states governments and to adress meddical issues.

3. Why are some governors planning to refuse some of the federal stimulus money? If you were advising President Obama, how would you suggest that he respond to these governors?

*Some governors are planning on refusing some of the stimulus money because they don't agree with some parts of the stimulus plan. I would tell him to do what he has to do, if they dont want the money to help struggling people then forget about it.

4. What is Mardi Gras?

*The terms "Mardi Gras"refer to events of the Carnival celebrations ending on the day before Ash Wednesday.

5. According to the report, approximately how many people turned out for Mardi Gras season in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina hit the city? What opinions are expressed in the report about this year's expected turnout?

* About a million people came to new orleans for mardi gras.

6. Do you or your family take part in any traditional celebrations like Mardi Gras? If so, do you think that economic concerns might impact your participation in the event? Why or why not?

*No we do not.

7. Who were some of the African-Americans who spied for the North during the Civil War, as discussed in the segment?

*Slaves

8. According to the report, what were some of the factors that allowed slaves to be successful as spies?

*Slaves were allowed to spy successfully because nobody cared what they said.

9. What do you think might have been some of the reasons that some African-Americans spied for the North during the Civil War? What do you think might have been some of the risks and challenges that these individuals faced?

*They were scared of being hanged so they moved north, and they were relied on.

10. Can you think of other groups of African-American who contributed to U.S. history? If so, what were their accomplishments?

*No i can not think of any other group that contributed to U.S history.

2. directly to medical issuses. it will go to the people who are sruggling with health care payments.

i think that slaves were spies for the north becuase people listened and they weren't treated the same way they were normally treated.
